All available prints are done professionally by Bay Photo Lab, and are shipped directly to your address. The price for each print has shipping costs and crate fees (for larger sizes) already factored in so there are no extra charges. Regardless of size, each print will come with a 3/4” inset frame with a wire hanger, making it easier to mount. In addition, the print will have a premium Mid-Gloss Coating. Most metal prints commonly have a Gloss Coating, which tends to pick up undesired glare and reflections. The included Mid-Gloss Coating is nearly as resistant as a Matte Coating, but also retains the same level of vibrance and contrast as a full Gloss Coating.

Alpine Reflections:

This photograph was taken at Sparks Lake, which is a very iconic place in Central Oregon. Over the years it has become a popular tourist attraction and a hot spot for Kayakers and Standup Paddleboarding. Many advertisements for Central Oregon usually feature a photograph of this location. 90 percent of them all have the same or a very similar composition, naturally the challenge is to offer a different perspective of the overall scene. This is probably why I have not shot this location until June 1st, 2019. Nearly nine years after I moved to Central Oregon.

Cascade Lakes Highway recently opened for the year. There were still large patches of snow on the ground. This is the ideal time to photograph this area since the main subject—South Sister, still has plenty of snow on it. Usually by mid-July the South aspect of the mountain is already sparse from snowmelt.

When arriving to a new area, it’s a good practice to walk around before even bringing out the camera. It’s easy to fall into the trap of immediately taking photographs before you even had a chance to truly look at the overall scene. I actually scouted this area the afternoon before this shot was taken for that very reason. I found this composition and actually hung around for sunset. Hoping I may be able to grab something good. However, the weather did not cooperate at all. There were thunderstorms rolling through until the last thirty minutes before sunset, and the light was lackluster. It occurred to me that I should come back for sunrise since we’ve been experiencing about a week-long streak of afternoon thunderstorms. I’m not a morning person by any means, I tend to favor sunsets for that very reason. However, I am grateful that I committed to that decision since I was rewarded by a beautiful sunrise. There’s nothing quite like sitting on shore of a calm alpine lake and listening to the forest come alive as all the songbirds and waterfowl wake up. The calm conditions made the water look like glass. I will definitely have to commit to more sunrises in the future.
